🇧🇪A cinnamon roll shop on Lightspeed·Bakery / sweets

Three kiosks without a heavy upfront spend, plus online sales.

A new shop wanted three ordering points from day one — without putting EUR 10,000+ into hardware upfront. Three UpKiosk units on subscription, connected to Lightspeed K-Series, plus online ordering. One POS, three kiosks, one ordering site.

For a startup, liquid cash matters more than a fully amortised kiosk. The subscription model lets you scale from the start.

What they wanted

  • Multiple ordering points in the shop from day one without a heavy upfront investment.
  • Online sales on top, for pickup and delivery, under the shop's own brand.
  • Everything in one POS so the bookkeeping stays simple.
  • Flexibility to scale up or back during the season without a fixed contract.

How it unfolded

From first conversation to live.

  1. 1

    Intake call

We map the shop: visit type (pickup vs dine-in), average transaction value, and the volume to expect at peak. Three kiosks turns out to be the right balance of capacity and investment.

  2. 2

    POS partner alignment

A short call with Lightspeed K-Series to enable the OAuth connection, plus agreements around modifier structure (slices, glazing, dessert options) and the central menu for the three kiosks.

  3. 3

    Setup and connection

Three UpKiosk units installed, all on subscription (EUR 150/month per kiosk), connected directly to the same Lightspeed location. Online ordering set up on the shop's own domain with the same menu source.

  4. 4

    Go live

Three ordering points and the online ordering site live at the same time. Staff trained briefly, from day two everything runs autonomously.

How we solved it

  • Three UpKiosk units on subscription at EUR 150/month per kiosk all-in (hardware + software + 5 years warranty).
  • Connected directly to Lightspeed K-Series, one central menu for all three kiosks.
  • Online ordering at EUR 100/month all-in, the shop's own ordering site on its own domain, QR table ordering included.
  • All orders (kiosk and online) land in the same Lightspeed POS, one order stream for the kitchen.
  • No heavy upfront spend — EUR 450 reservation (first month x 3 kiosks) and the shop runs.

Outcome

  • Three ordering points with no upfront hardware cash-out.
  • Online sales from day one, under the shop's own brand.
  • Everything in one Lightspeed POS, one reporting set, one bookkeeping.
  • Flexibility to scale through the seasonal standalone kiosk licence at EUR 60/month (second and third) when hardware is later bought out.
